Selecting Language Arts Curriculum

Homeschool parents today have a spectrum of choices when it comes to language arts curriculum.  Rainbow Resource, the super center of all homeschool supply companies, offer 515 full curriculums, and over 700 individual items to help with grammar/usage/mechanics.  Overwhelming!  Instead of offering a review of specific products or endorsing one company over another, I want to offer a few tips regarding languages arts in general:

When It Rains Pain

There are many moments of my life  I wish I could relive.  My wedding day.  The days each of my children were born. An afternoon in the garden with my mother-in-law. Days of sweetness and love.

There are moments of my life I don't ever what to relive.  Today one rained down into my life again.  A haunting of brokenness.  A feeling so real and painful and raw, I wanted to run. 

Where does one run when past pain floods the now?

We are experiencing a spring snow today, two to five inches expected.  I came home from the grocery store to see my beautiful daffodils struggling to stand up under the weight of the snow landing on them. 

That is how I feel sometimes.  

Holding Fresh Love

The beginning of January always feels like a new start in being in love.  I married the end of December, the 30th, just before New Year's.  A few weeks ago marked twenty-two years for the man and I.  Daily, I wonder how we arrived at such a high number so quickly.  And then I remember.  Every so often, we sneak away to fall in love again. 

And those little trips kindle something that ignites again.

RSS Feed Helps Set Goals

I've found a wonderful thing - RSS Feed!  I read a number of blogs each day and staying current can be time consuming.  One of the items on my to-do list all Fall was to learn about RSS Feeds and set my computer up to utilize this tool.  Checked that one off the to-do yesterday and I'm loving it already!  I just open one screen - Google Reader - and have all the blogs I'm following right there.
