Monday again? Another week to write with our children.
Participants in the Write Next To MeWriting Communities are working on personal narratives. We watched the video clip "Married Life" from the movie Up, and then discussed parts of a story - setting, characters, conflict, rising action, climax, and resolution.
While story maps are usually used for understanding reading, some students in the writing community found using a story map graphic organizer, like the one pictured above, as a pre-writing tool for telling their own stories.
Transition words are also important when writing stories. They help bridge time and scenes and move stories along. Check out these great lists of transition words:
