Bookmarks for Summer Reading

I am working with a seventh grade boy and his mom this summer to make their summer academically meaningful. I really admire this mom. She works full time as a night nurse, and stays is extremely involved in her son's education. She needed a "right hand" so to speak to not only meet with her son a few times, but to also help her understand emails from his teacher and learn some better techniques in assisting her son.
I'm excited not only to work with young man, but also with his mom. She understands what a pivotal role she plays in his success. I admire her willingness to get involved with her son's education even when it means staying awake all morning after a night at work. I couldn't ask for a better situation as a consultant - they both are eager to learn.
We are working for a few weeks on understanding what it means to infer from reading.
The student is enrolled in the reading program at the library, and mom has been reading aloud to him each evening. Building on these great practices already in place in their home, I created a bookmark for each of them to use as they work at becoming more active readers. I also created an instruction sheet for the mom helping her understand the why behind the questions she's to use with her son.
Maybe these bookmarks will enrich your summer reading too!
